The Wedding
No... not my own wedding... but the wedding of a good friend of mine.
For three days (Last Friday, Saturday and Sunday), I had the great pleasure of participating in a wonderful wedding (http://wedding.hafichuk.net). Not only was it great to be present at the wedding, it was a great honour for me to be part of it.
For the first time, I was Best Man at a wedding and I really enjoyed the role. I planned the stag which involved shooting the Groom at rampage paintball (http://www.eatpaint.com) and, afterwards, enjoying good food and some poker at the Groom's house. I also helped setup for the ceremony and banquet, was keeper of the rings, and kept the groom from blowing a gasket or two. My delivery of the toast to the groom provided minimal embarassment for the groom, some good chuckles, and perhaps a few teary eyes (including my own at one point).
The day couldn't have been better. The wedding was outdoors so the weather played a crucial role. Both Friday and Sunday were cold and rainy, but Saturday was warm and sunny all day long. During the ceremony, there was a slight breeze to keep everyone cool and the evening stayed reasonably warm long after the sun went down (although I did see people change into some slightly warmer clothes as the evening wore on). The ceremony was lovely, the dinner was a feast and the reception and following dance were a great deal of fun. It was great to meet and talk to so many fine people.
At the end of the evening, the groomsmen and a few others enjoyed some cigars with the groom under a cloudless and star-filled night sky. A perfect end to a perfect day.
Thanks Brad and Erin for a great time. Brad, I an honoured that you asked me to be your best man. I won't ever forget it! All best wishes to you two for now and forever.
