CPSC 594 - Presentation
Dates: January 17 & 19 (starting at 17:00)
Location: ICT 618B
Duration: approx 1 hour/presentation
As part of the grading requirements for this course, each group is required to make 2 presentations. The first presentation will be in the third week of January, 2006.
Focus of Presentations
As you are aware, there are 4 projects being run in this course. Students will learn from their own projects but also have the opportunity to learn from the other projects through these presentations. The main focus of the presentation is to transfer knowledge about what you have learned to your fellow classmates. Since CPSC 594 is the capstone course to the Software Engineering concentration, a sizable component of your presentation should focus on software engineering topics such as: development processes and methodologies, teamwork issues, requirements elicitation, estimation and scheduling, analysis and design, implementation, testing and professionalism (just to name a few).
Because this is a senior course, you will not be told what to put in to your presentation. It is your team's responsibility to determine which information is relevant and which is not (this may require some research on the part of team members). Your team will be graded on its ability to transfer knowledge about software engineering issues to the other groups in the class and the general effectiveness of the presentation. Think of this as an undergraduate lecture. You have spent 4 months working on an industry project. How would you structure a 45 minute lecture to a class of undergraduate students?
Presentations should be about 1 hour long. It would be good to budget 45 minutes for the presentation and 15 minutes for questions/discussion.
If your team has a preference for presentation time, have a team representative send me an email requesting that time. The presentation schedule will be posted on Wednesday, January 11, 2005. In the event of conflicts for requested times, the schedule will be assigned randomly.
